Returning to Work - From Mr. Fullen

SHHS Faculty and Staff, Please read the following email regarding the restart date for school:

All employees should report to their campus or job location Thursday and Friday, Sept. 25-26. Classes will resume for all students Monday, September 29. The following statement will be released to the community this afternoon. Feel free to share this information with anyone who asks.

“Pasadena ISD expects power to be restored and all major repairs completed by Friday, Sept. 26. Classes will resume for all students on Monday, Sept. 29.”

All SHHS personnel should report to the school by 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. We will begin with a brief meeting in the Reinartz center. Afterward, you will be released to work in your rooms in preparation for the return of students on Monday. Please dress comfortably and casually and come prepared to help one another in readying your rooms and office areas. Our custodians have been working round-the-clock to remove debris and carpet, and crews have been replacing windows and making other repairs. Still, there is a very real possibility that desks and furniture have been moved and will need to be reorganized prior to Monday.

Additionally, you may notice items that are still in need of repair and our opening meeting on Thursday will outline details on how to report those needed repairs. More information regarding reporting of grades will also be shared at our Thursday meeting. The intent is for Thursday to be used for general cleaning and organization, and for Friday to be used to plan and enter curriculum on Eduphoria and make other necessary adjustments for the return of our students.

If you are aware of staff members still without power of email access, please share this information with them. If you are unable to be here on Thursday, please notify your supervisor or PDAS administrator. Information may be made in the comments section of this blog, but this is not a substitute for contacting your administrator in person.

STORM UPDATE: (9-19-08 ) From Mr. Fullen:

 

Hello SHHS faculty and staff,
 
I hope this message finds you and your families safe and that there is some degree of normalcy returning to your lives.
 
I met with with assistant principals and athletic director today and there has been remarkable progress, largely due to the hard work of our custodial and kitchen staff, toward getting us ready for the return of students.  At this point, the tentative plan, and I do mean tentative, is to have faculty and staff return for a workday on Wednesday of next week, and have students return the following day (Thursday).  We would have a brief faculty/staff meeting on Wednesday and use the remainder of the day for final preparations in order to resume school.
 
I will be attending a meeting with Dr. Lewis on Monday morning and will update all of you as soon as possible to any changes to this tentative plan.  You should have received an email from Dr. Lewis today describing the various contingencies for which the district is having to plan.
